ABSN Admissions Overview
If you want to work toward a rewarding career in nursing as soon as possible, an accelerated nursing program could be your quickest path. The University of the Incarnate Word Accelerated BSN track in San Antonio offers three start dates each year in January, May and August, so you can pick the start that best fits your schedule. To begin this 16-month accelerated nursing track, you must first meet the ABSN admissions requirements.

What are the ABSN track admissions requirements?
To meet the admissions requirements for our accelerated track, you must have a non-nursing bachelor’s degree or at least 60 non-nursing college credits and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
You must also complete the prerequisite course requirements to be eligible for admittance. Additionally, nursing students are required to clear a criminal background check and obtain CPR and First Aid certifications.
Do I need to complete the prerequisites before I apply to the ABSN track?
You can apply to the ABSN track while finishing the last semester of your prerequisites. UIW grants conditional acceptance, pending the submission of your official transcript upon completion of your prerequisites. To be admitted into our accelerated nursing track, each of the prerequisite courses must be completed with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
