ABSN Prerequisites

Prerequisites are an important component of an accelerated nursing program. They provide the foundational knowledge students will need in their nursing studies. Additionally, successful completion of these courses is a good indicator of a student’s readiness to pursue study in the health sciences.

In UIW’s ABSN track, the number of prerequisites you will need to take depends on your previous education and when you completed it. Because these courses are science-based, applicants with a Bachelor of Science degree tend to meet more of the ABSN prerequisite requirements than applicants with a Bachelor of Arts.

You must also meet any outstanding UIW core classes that are not covered by your previous coursework. When you talk to an admissions representative, they will help you determine which courses, if any, you need to take. Note that prerequisite and core classes are available to take here at UIW.
