How Our Accelerated BSN Track Works

The UIW ABSN was designed specifically for students with a non-nursing bachelor’s degree or at least 60 non-nursing college credits, making it possible to graduate ready to sit for the NCLEX in as few as 16 months. Additionally, with three starts each year and seats available now, you may be able to start your journey toward becoming a registered nurse much sooner than with other programs.

As a UIW accelerated nursing student, you’ll become immersed in both the art and science of nursing through a blend of:

  • Online coursework that allows you to learn the concepts and theories fundamental to nursing when and where it’s convenient for you.
  • Hands-on skills and simulation labs, where you’ll hone your nursing skills, become familiar with advanced healthcare equipment and develop sound clinical judgment.
  • Clinical rotations at a variety of San Antonio-area healthcare facilities, giving you real-life experience under the guidance of knowledgeable clinical instructors.

Keep in mind that this accelerated format, while flexible, is not an easy journey. Earning a BSN in as few as 16 months takes a great deal of hard work and dedication, which is why we recommend students treat our accelerated nursing track as a full-time job.

What is more, research has shown that having better-educated nurses results in improved patient outcomes, so healthcare organizations have a high demand for nurses with a BSN.

By graduating as a nurse with a bachelor’s degree, you’ll be on track to have excellent career prospects and career growth opportunities. At UIW, we’re committed to helping students become the nurses they were meant to be.
